Our Projects
Working with and for the community
Conservation goes beyond Heritage monuments. Conservation extends to Hampi’s natural landscapes, of local flora and fauna and most importantly of local communities who need to be empowered with ecological livelihood options that augment the local arts and crafts of the region.
The works of INTACH AGH are living examples of this definition of conservation and represent our commitment to it.
Creation of public spaces through restoring heritage structures and monuments allows the local community to interact with the built heritage.
Adaptive reuse is the process of taking an old building or site, and reusing it for a purpose other than it was designed which promotes historic preservation or conservation around areas that are rich in history.
Intach AGH has worked tirelessly with several houses and successfully repurposed them for empowering the community.
In the context of a living cultural settlement, it is essential to understand heritage in a holistic manner.
Documentation of the built, natural and intangible heritage is an important part of conservation.
Success of any conservation is determined by the level of understanding and engagement the local communities have. With various projects involving the community directly, such as rangoli competitions, clean street competitions etc. was how we began our journey.
